A lipid profile, or lipid panel, is a blood test that measures the levels of fats, or lipids, in your blood, including cholesterol and triglycerides. This test is used to assess your risk for cardiovascular diseases like heart attack and stroke, monitor existing conditions, and evaluate the effectiveness of treatments like cholesterol-lowering medications. A typical lipid profile measures total cholesterol, LDL ("bad") cholesterol, HDL ("good") cholesterol
